Charlie Durant, Head of Base Metals Demand and Markets Team, CRU 


Charlie Durant joined CRU in 2010 and is the Head of CRU’s Base Metals Demand and Markets Team. He has worked across various CRU services and recently lead the research into the refined copper market. Charlie was previously Head of CRU’s Aluminum Downstream Team and also worked in thermal coal research. 




John Gross, President, J.E. Gross & Co. 

J.E. Gross & Co. is a metals management and consultancy firm established in 1987, to assist companies in their procurement of metals, scrap recycling, and price risk management.

In addition to his consulting activities, Mr. Gross has worked with global leaders in the metals industry over the past 45 years. John began his career in metals in 1973 when he joined U.S. Metals Refining Company, a division of Amax Inc., where he rose to become Manager of Administration.

In 1981 he joined Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting as Manager of Trading, and in 1983 became a Futures Broker with Johnson Matthey & Wallace, specializing in metals on Comex and the London Metal Exchange.

John joined BICC Cables Corporation in 1985, now owned by Prysmian Group, where he became Vice President of Strategic Metals for their North American operations. Mr. Gross was also Director of Metals Management with Scott Brass, a leading producer and manufacturer of copper and brass strip products.

John is a graduate of Hofstra University in New York, and is a highly decorated Vietnam veteran. He is publisher of The Copper Journal, an industry newsletter, and was a Director of the American Copper Council, and also served as a member of the Comex Advisory Committee.




Andy Home, Columnist, Reuters

Andy Home has been writing about the metal markets and other commodity sectors since 1987. He started at Metals Week, progressing to Knight-Ridder Financial and then to Bridge over the course of the 1990s. In 2002 he co-founded Metals Insider, which was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2008. Since then he has been a regular Reuters columnist, writing across the industrial metals spectrum.

He is the author of “Siberian Dreams”, published in 2007, a book about the Russian mining city of Norilsk. The journey also featured on BBC Radio 4 and was the subject of a lecture at the Royal Geographical Society in London. 




Craig Tuckman, Head of Marketing, Metals Americas, Mitsui Bussan Commodities (USA) Inc

Craig Tuckman graduated from the University of Chicago in 1983 with a degree in Economics.  Craig spent nearly 10 years in metals trade house work with background in logistics, position management, physical trading and proprietary position taking. Craig began working in commodity derivatives and futures sales in New York before becoming a founding member of the BNP Paribas Commodities desk in 2001. Craig was promoted to Managing Director in 2004 with responsibilities for global metal products. 

Craig's work in the sector continued to evolve with numerous risk management advisory and M&A projects for institutional mining and corporate clients as well as supporting hedge fund product requirements in the sector.  In addition, Craig had been instrumental in integrating and executing syndicated leverage finance hedged facilities for metals sector clients at Merrill Lynch. In 2008 Craig became Managing Director and Global Head of Metals Sales and Structuring for Citigroup. During his tenure, Craig and his team negotiated and developed significant deal flow and executed ISDA, futures and related documentation required to support capital markets products trading with dozens of mining sector, corporate clients and hedge funds. Craig also project managed and developed the initial launch of Citi's bullion velocity auto trading system in partnership with the bank's FX team as well as structuring physical flow transactions for hedged cargo and inventory financings.  

Since 2012 Craig has worked on commodity projects for a Canadian bank, a large physical bullion trader and an aluminum alloy producer to assist in evaluating and evolving their business models which has also included borrowing base, non-recourse inventory finance, transactional and e-commerce facilities. In 2016 Craig joined Mitsui Bussan Commodities (USA) Inc. as Head of Marketing, Metals Americas. Craig’s responsibilities include business development for Americas Metals clients, marketing team management, new product development and desk support.

Craig presently lives in New York City with Sheryl and has a son Kyle, age 25, a recent graduate of Columbia Law School who lives in New York and a daughter Lauren, 23, a recent graduate of Quinnipiac University who lives in Playa Vista, California.
